Setlist

Songs performed during this period include: Train Kept a Rollin', I Can't Quit You Baby, Dazed and Confused, As Long As I Have You, Killing Floor, White Summer / Black Mountainside, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, You Shook Me, How Many More Times, Communication Breakdown.

Note

While in Honolulu, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are interviewed on KPOI FM.

Press Review: Led Zeppelin was the first major British rock group to appear in Hawaii, and I think most people at the Civic Auditorium last Tuesday night will agree that we want more.

The showmanship exceeded any rock performance (with possible exception of Jimi Hendrix) here to date. The very British way of stage appearance really made for an interesting show. At times Robert Plant looked almost feminine (don't worry, he’s married, has one kid and is only 20 years old ), but he retained  his masculinity with powerful gestures and a voice that was always clear --- whether singing low or screaming.

Jimmy Page blew everybody out with his unbelievable guitar work. He is definitely one of the greats along with Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and of course, Jeff Beck. I' ve never seen Beck, but if you interchanged Beck with Page or Plant with Rod Stewart (Beck's lead vocalist) I think you'd come out with basically the same sound. Of course, Led Zeppelin has a heavier sound: most of it made by Page's bow work on his electric guitar (very similar to playing a cello).

Bass player, John Paul Jones, who played organ on Jeff Beck's ''Truth'' album, and John Bonham on drums completed the group. I really wondered before the concert if Led Zeppelin could sound as good as their Atlantic album - they sounded better.

Local promoters want to book Led Zeppelin again in August at the H.I.C. Most rock groups like the Civic, but if the heat and light problems aren’t corrected, no one will want to play there.

Many thanks have to go to John Selby and Co. for bringing Zeppelin over. Because it was a Tuesday night they probably lost money, but musically, Indica Music Productions put on the best rock show ever. [May 1969, Honolulu, K. Rosene]
