Press Review: (Sunday, 11/21) The Empire Pool, scene of horse shows, table tennis championships, the Harlem Globetrotters and the like, turned its head towards progressive music for the first time, with two supporting groups "Home" and "Stone the Crows" to keep the audience happy before the on-slaught.

"Home", a country/rock group, opened the evening but perhaps the occasion rather overawed them them as their numbers seemed a little long and tiresome at times, but they started the "show" rolling in their own way.

"Stone the Crows" were next, with female vocalist Maggie Bell, showing how much more experience she has obtained in doing all the college gigs. They proved to be confident in style contrasting vividly with "Home", who seemed nervous at the prospect of a 9,800 capacity audience.

Led Zeppelin eventually came on, due to schedule at 8.00 p.m., and provided all and sundry with an  excellent evening's entertainment, playing for 2½ hours new numbers and old. Robert Plant and Jimmy
Page, combining to form an efficient unit in all their numbers, the best of which being "Dazed and Confused" and "Communications Breakdown".

To add to a marvellous evening, we were provided with several good circus acts, with trapeze acts, spinning plates, trampoline acts and last but not least two brained Pigs!! A great evening for entertainment and who said Rock music is dead. [K. Donert / 11/71]
